Our Journey Begins
Yesterday morning started as any other, except my brain was reeling and my heart was a bit heavy. I woke up before the sun to have one last sunrise with my mama for awhile before Matt and I started our adventure. There were tears and laughter and thoughtful silence. Who knew so many feelings could be felt over a cup of coffee? This trip represents so much to me; self-exploration and discovery, sadness, madness, happiness, wonder and excitement.
During teary hugs, lots of laughter and endless joking, we snapped photos in between our "see you laters". I love my family so much! It is such a gift to have parents that support me. My stepdad and mama are some of my favorite people and will always remain as a source of strength and guidance for me.
Last night Matt and I camped in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood. Although it isn't our goal to sleep in residential areas, we will probably be staying in them every now and then. Portland is equal parts elegant and quirky and waking up here this morning reminded me just how much I love it. On the road I plan on shooting often and I was lucky enough to shoot with Sam Landreth (@samlandreth) and Bryan Daugherty (@bdorts). (Stay tuned for those photos!)
Tonight we head down to California, where we hope for warmer nights and an ocean view ;) Our van is a little bit chaotic right now, as we've already realized we over packed. I will definitely be posting some photos and eventually a video of how we're going to maximize all the space in our little home on wheels. For now, we will learn through trial and error (and stubbed toes).
